Soundproof Door Panel

The Introduction

There are three main types of common sound insulated doors as follows.

(1) Core-filled soundproof door panel: glass wool or rock wool is used to fill the core of the door, and the door is sealed at the seam with a sponge rubber strip

(2) Externally wrapped soundproof doors: a layer of artificial leather is wrapped around the outside of an ordinary wooden door, the artificial leather is filled with rock wool, and the long artificial leather press strips are nailed down with foam nails, and the gaps around the door are sealed with sponge rubber strips.

(3) Soundproofing fire doors: the wooden frame of the door is filled with rock wool and other sound-absorbing materials, the exterior is wrapped with asbestos sheets, galvanised iron and fire-resistant fibre boards, and the gaps around the door are sealed with sponge rubber strips.

Key points in the construction of sound insulated doors

(1) When making soundproof doors, the door core should be filled with ultra-fine glass wool or rock wool, but it should not be squeezed tightly, and should be kept in a soft state to ensure its soundproofing effect.

(2) The gap between the door and the door frame should be embedded in a groove in the door frame with a flexible material such as a sponge rubber strip, which should be glued firmly in place. The cross-sectional size of the sponge rubber strip should be 1mm larger than the width of the groove in the door frame and project 2mm beyond the edge of the frame to ensure that the gap can be squeezed tightly when the door is closed.

(3) The lap joint of a double soundproof door panel shall be made into a double L-shaped seam. A sponge rubber strip should be provided in the middle of the lap joint. When the door is closed, the sponge rubber strip is squeezed tightly on both sides of the lap joint.

(4) It is advisable to wrap the door with artificial leather. A rock wool blanket should be inserted between the artificial leather and the wooden door, then a double layer of artificial leather should be pressed onto the surface of the door and nailed in place with foam nails.

(5) A 5mm wide gap should be left between the bottom of the acoustic door and the ground, then a 3mm thick rubber strip should be pressed and nailed to the lower part of the door with a long flat iron, the rubber strip should be extended by 5mm at the point of contact with the ground to close the gap between the door and the ground.

(6) For soundproof fire doors with waterproofing requirements, the door fan may be made of fire-resistant fibreboard, nailed with 5mm thick asbestos sheet on each side, then wrapped with No. 26 galvanised iron.

(7) The hardware of soundproof door panel should be compatible with the function of soundproof doors, such as hinges with silent hinges, etc.
